One of the advantages to living here in Eretz Yisrael is that you get to do the Mitzvos Hateluyot BaAretz- those special Mitzvos that are connected to the Land. After Shmitta was over, I felt an urge to get into farmer mode and plant some veggies…With advice from some of my cowgirl students, I set up a porch garden. The combination of amazing sunshine, Yerushalayim water and Siyata Deshmaya gave forth the following produce:

The next step was to find out how exactly to take Truma and Maaser. I called the special Yeshiva here in Har Nof that is set up for agricultural questions, and the Rav gave me detailed instructions on what to do- after asking me all sorts of questions like- is the porch enclosed, open roofed, what was planted and how much grew. So teh next step was- harvesting what I wanted and setting it on the table, each vegetable by itself…
Here's the first harvest- Parsley on the left, corriander on the right and carrots center stage
Now comes the seperating of Truma and Maaser- taking a bit more than 1% of each variety and setting it aside. Then the Bracha, the declaration of Truma, the setting aside of a special coin to redeem the Maaser.
After I took Maaser- Pruta coin on table

Blessings for an elevated and successful Lag Baomer …
The first two shiurim below are from the Sunday morning class on the Sefer Da Et Atzmecha. They touch on the idea of finally intergrating all we have learned so that we can begin to enter the gates of deep joy in connecting to Hashem and His People and eventually, His creation.
These 2 classes are given to the merit of the mother of our precious Shaina Rubin. Her mother, Malka Bas Eliezer passed away last week and merited to be buried here in holy Yerushalayim. At the Shiva, Shaina described her mother as a woman who lived with Hashem near her at all times. The other women in the group were amazed- the description of Malka Bas Eliezer was so close and similar to the midos we had just finished learning in our class a few hours earlier.May she find rest and nachas in her place and may Shaina and her sister Sara and their father be comforted mong the mourners of Tziyon and Yerushalayim.

Saving the best for last, here is a teaching on Lag Baomer- from many great Tzaddikim- and even if you hear this after Lag Baomer itself, it is still so important to understanding the power we have as Jews to Daven, to dance and to understand!
